Built on the Kingston Branch of New Zealand Railway's network this short bridge served a dual purpose of handling both rail and road traffic.

While there is no clear date on the highway that now crosses Lumsden Creek just 70 metres downstream, it is conceivable that road traffic stopped using this mixed use bridge in the 1930s.

This portion of the Kingston Branch opened in 1877 and remained in active rail service until 1982 when the line was closed between Mossburn and Makarewa.

Today the bridge, which is only 9.75 metres in length, is a feature in a roadside reserve.

Bridge Type: Truss

Bridge Usage: Pedestrian

Moving Bridge: This bridge is static (has no moving pieces)
