The Boyd Homestead buildings are located near the east end of Bend River Mall Drive.

Marker Name: The Boyd Homestead
Marker Text: This house was constructed in 1906 and was part of a 600 acre cattle ranch developed on this site by Charles and Anna Boyd. The property was bordered on the west by the Deschutes River and ran easterly for a distance of 3/4 mile. The icehouse and bunkhouse were added over the next few years. The buildings, which were located 1/4 mile south of here, were moved in 1979. They reflect original arrangement and proximity to the Swalley Canal and remain on the ranch property. Collectively, the buildings represent one of the few remaining homesteads in Central Oregon. A slaughter house was located S.W. of here on the Deschutes River and the Palace Meat Market served as a retail store in Bend. Ice for refrigeration was cut from the Swalley Pond, which was 50 meter north of here and local ice caves. The business provided meat for the community, logging camps and the Tumalo Irrigation Project and contributed significantly to the development of Central Oregon.
