Erected in 1998 the Glencoe Cross honours those that died at the Massacre of Glencoe in 1692 in Scotland, as well as the many early settlers who settled this part of New Zealand. Many of whom descended from the Donald Clan that were massacred.

This memorial was erected in 1998 to honour the many of the Donald Clan that were massacred at Glencoe in 1692. It also serves to honour the early settlers of the district, many of whom descended from those that died at Glencoe.

It is a cast concrete celtic cross that is mounted atop a stone base. It rises about 6 metres high.


Describe the location:
It is a private reserve that the public are welcome to stop and have a picnic at the picnic table. However, the paddock is often filled with sheep grazing so do watch for sheep dag.
