Emmetsburg was named after Robert Emmet and is a Sister City to Dublin, Ireland. Emmetsburg was founded in 1858 by a group of Irish immigrant families. The statue of Robert Emmet was "presented" to the town in 1958 to mark Emmetsburg's centennial, but that presentation was somewhat questionable, if you read the link to the background information.
