Scotts Bluff National Monument is located in Southwestern Nebraska. This is one of the sites that marked the way along the Oregon Trail. Large enough to be seen for many miles away, giving settlers a sence of achievement along the long trail.

Towering eight hundred feet above the North Platte River, Scotts Bluff has been a natural landmark for many peoples, and it served as the path marker for those on the Oregon, California, Mormon, and Pony Express Trails.
