Located in the Cordillera Central (central mountain zone), incompassing 108,970 acres, this park includes the dormant volcanoes (including Cerro Chompipe, Cerro Cacho Negro and Cerros las Tres Marias), large amounts of primary cloud and rainforest, diverse biodiversity (including 600 identified species of trees, over 525 species of birds, and 125 species of mammals) and receives approximately 10 feet of rain per year.
The park was established in 1978, in honor of former Costa Rican president Braulio Carrillo and was formed as an agreement with environmental lobbyists to limit and/or prevent development of the area, which was becoming more accessible after the construction of the major highway (Guápiles Highway) that links San Jose in central Costa Rica to Caribbean cargo ports along the eastern coastline.
Braulio Carrillo's administration had helped improve the Costa Rican agricultural economy and was intrumental in promoting the Guapiles Highway, which was the first road linking San José to the Caribbean coast.
The highest point in this National park is the Brava Volcano, at 2906 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is the Caribbean lowlands near La Selva, at 36 meters.

Visit Instructions:A log will require a recent photograph at the coordinates. Some of these locations will be placed for the scenery, so a gpsr will just ruin the picture.
If you don't have a digital camera post a descriptive log.
