Gingin observatory is a small astronomical observatory located ~80kms north of Perth. It is managed and run privately, with the aim of providing the public with 'viewing nights' and an introduction to astronomy. On the same grounds are other science education installations, these include a 'Gravity Discovery Centre' (a science museum), various science related activities (giant pendulum, solar system model, etc), environmental exhibits, and nature walks (the grounds are part of a national park). There is also a cafe/restaurant on the grounds.
The observatory is open every Friday and Saturday night, plus other nights when special astronomical events occur. The public have access to six medium sized telescopes (10"–12" in size), and there is one large 25" telescope available. Adjacent to the Gingin observatory is the Zadko telescope housed in its own dome. This is a 24" professional telescope, which guests can sometimes visit.
