This trail is in just a small section of the 2400+ acres of coastal preserve. The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources has set aside this land to prevent development as part of the Gulf Ecological Management Sites (GEM) program.
The trails follow old dirt road paths and can get a bit muddy after a rain. Parts of the trail come very close to the Bay of St. Louis. You can see the Bay Bridge and a casino over the tidal grass. This is coastal Mississippi, so watch out for the typical hazards for being in the woods (snakes, spiders, ticks, etc). I have seen quite a few deer tracks out here too.
Parking available at the trailhead.
