The memorial is located alongside the Pan-American Hiway, high up on the Cerro de la Muerte (Mountain of Death) near the tiny village of San Gerardo De Dota (population 150). The memorial appears to have been moved or damaged, as it tilts awkwardly and is dislodged from the earth. The Plaque reads: "A La Memoria Del Profesor Pedro Manuel Ramirez Briceno Demas personas fallecidas tragicamente el dia 17 de febrero de 1980 filial regional ande perez zeledon 17 10 81" Translated per this site: www.translate.Google.com "To the memory of Professor Pedro Manuel Ramirez Briceno Other people died tragically the day February 17, 1980 Regional Affiliate Walk Perez Zeledon October 17, 1981" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Additional information obtained thru online research: Source ttp://www.bestpricedentistry.com/about-costarica/18-annexation-nicoya Manuel Briceño, the last junior political chief Nicoya Party, and who allegedly played a role in the decision of the annexation of Nicoya from Nicaragua and to Costa Rica.
