Herman Pfisterer was born April 1, 1866. He served as a Musician, Company H, 21st United States Infantry. He was a Spanish-American War Medal of Honor recipient. He was awarded his medal for service at Santiago, Cuba, on July 1, 1898. His citation reads "gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the lines and under heavy fire from the enemy." He died August 6 or 8, 1905 and was buried at Vancouver's Post Military Cemetery.
