This tall wooden zebra carving is located at the OKC Zoo, next to the Dan Moran Aviary. The sculpture is located inside a nicely landscaped area. I like the intricate carving details the entire length of the sculpture. There are two baby zebras carved into the design, carefully incorporated into the mom's legs so they appear as one. The mom's head is bowed down, tucked close to the main body. It's a really cute part of the art work and the artist did a good job with detail.
This is one of many sculptures placed around the zoo, and one of only five wooden carvings that I saw. One other wooden sculpture (an Eagle) is very very difficult to find, even when an office employee told me where it was and what to look for. Talk about camouflaged well!
The OKC Zoo is open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
Price of admission is $8/adults; $5 kids 3-11 and Seniors. Kids under 3 are admitted at no charge.
Parking at the zoo is free, and same day re-entry is allowed.
