The State Library of WA is housed inside the Alexander Library building, which is located to the immediate north of the central business (and shopping) district of Perth city. The library is part of the cultural complex of the city. The building houses a number of libraries serving various purposes, including the housing of special collections. The State Library also serves as the leading library in the state supplying support services to local libraries.
