This site, currently the Titan Missile Museum, is the last of these relics of the cold war. While there are other displays of the Titan missile above ground, this the last of the 54 original sites still in existence, with its Titan II intercontinental ballistic missile still in its silo as well as the original launch facilities.
With the implementation of President Reagan's policy of decommissioning the Titan II missiles, all operational Titan II silos throughout the country were demolished, except for this one. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1984, the silo doors are now permanently blocked from opening more than half way. Also the dummy reentry vehicle mounted on the missile has a prominent hole cut in it to prove it is inert. Other than that, all of the support facilities at the site remain intact, complete with all of their original equipment.
