The owner of Johnny Reb's was looking for a way to distinguish his restaurant from others along Hwy 41, the "Four Lane" that bore a large part of the area's north/south traffic in the early 1960's, the days before interstates. His idea of a huge (56' high) sheet metal chicken fit the bill - and has withstood the test of time! It has long since been taken over by KFC. Rebuilt from the ground up after a storm in 1993, it continues to serve as a local icon.

To get there, you just go to the Big Chicken and... and you're there!
