To celebrate and preserve the importance that draft horses played in the success of Montana ranches, the Big Sky Draft Horse Expo is held every September at the Tri-County Fairgrounds in Deer Lodge. This welcome sign, topped by a draft horse, welcomes travelers and gives the date of the Expo. The opposite side thanks visitors for coming and lets them know that Deer Lodge is the home of the Expo.
