The Basler Zeitung (BaZ) is the biggest newspaper in the Northwest of Switzerland; it's daily circulation is over 93,000.
The paper was founded in 1977. It was a merger of "Schweizerischen National-Zeitung" (founded 1842) and "Basler Nachrichten" (founded 1844). This was the first big merger in Swiss media industry.
