This location is just a few blocks from the Crux Rock Gym and REI. Rock climbing classes are offered from various sources at this location.
"Small toproping/trad climbing area. It isn't very extensive, but it sure is convenient. A 45' columnar basalt cliff that has seen climbing since the 1940's. An abundance of approximately "~70" variations of crack climbs from 5.6 to 5.13a, mostly about 5.8-5.10." Source: Rockclimbing.com
A little known fact regarding this location is that the columns were exposed when the area was used as a quarry by the City of Eugene's founding father Eugene Skinner. Many of the older homes in Eugene have foundations that were made using the basalt from this site.
