St. John's has a large number of ministry opportunities at their parish serving both the Church and the community at large. Among them are:

St. John's Community Kitchen which is open every Tuesday and Thursday Evening from 5 to 6pm to any one who needs a hot meal. The Community Kitchen is served by St. John's parishioners, other churches around the community and volunteers from squadrons at Holloman Air Force Base.

St. John's Music Ministry which provides musical support for the 10:15am service.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers can serve as Lectors, Intercessors, and Chalice Bearers during the our weekly service and take communion to the homebound, members in nursing homes, and members in hospitals. Training is available anytime during the year and require four sessions for new trainees. New LEMS are then licensed through the Diocese of the Rio Grande for a period of one year. You must be a confirmed Episcopalian to volunteer.

Harbingers serve as greeters and ushers at the 10:15am Service. They also collect and take up the offering as well as the elements for communion.

Acolytes assist the celebrant during the Holy Eucharist and other services. They generally serve as torchbearers, crucifiers, thurifers, lighters of candles as well as other ceremonial functions during Sunday and other services. The Acolyte Ministry is open to children 7 years and older as well as adults.

St John's Prayer Chain is made up of people who pray for others who are in need of healing.

The International Order of St Luke the Physician is an ecumenical group open to any person desiring to be involved in Christian healing ministry. St. John's is currently host to the Alamogordo study group. Group meetings include study of biblical healing encounters of Jesus and prayer for the healing need of the parish and surrounding community.
