Long before the roads across the moor travellers used packhorse tracks, these tracks were marked with standing stones. Many of these stones have disappeared long ago accept for the stones in the area of Merrivale – Princetown where there are several still standing. This track leads from Tavistock to Ashburton, the stones are marked with a T on one side and an A on the other.

This stone has been recycled as a gatepost.
