This siren is located on top of a school just next to the town hall of Binningen.
On May 14, 1999, at 3 a.m. (the perfect time for this, I remember well) there was a water ingress into the control room that caused a short circuit that started the radiation alarm signal. The whole population was shocked, it took about 20 minutes to find out it was a false alarm and broadcast this. Stopping the alarm took over an hour, because the control room was flooded.
