Hideaway Pizza began in Oklahoma in 1957, near Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, OK. It was a favorite place for students to get pizza from during study breaks, 50 years ago and still today!
According to the company website, many of the menu items were created by employees. In fact, they have a Big Pizza contest every year, and employees get to try out new recipes. There is also an annual company event called the Pizza Olympics, which I would love to participate in! In the early 1990's the first Hideaway Pizza restaurant outside of Stillwater was opened by a few former managers of the Stillwater location.
There are currently 11 locations in the state: the original one in Stillwater, 5 in the Tulsa area, and 5 in the OKC Metro area.
One of my family's favorite things about Hideaway is the colorful tie-dyed shirts that the employees wear. They are easily recognized!
The company mascot is Kahuna, a "dude with big hair and a red bow tie".
This is a great pizza restaurant!
The UCO Jazz Lab is right next door, and their performances typically offer attendees the opportunity to order from Hideaway.
