In May 2017, the old school buildings were removed for expansion of the School District Transportation Center. Below is the old write up about the quonset huts that were here.
The Yew Lane School orginally consisted of central brick core building with offices and restrooms. There were four quonset huts attached to the brick core which served as classrooms for grades 1 through 4. I attended school here from fall 1956 to spring 1960. One of the classrooms later burned and was replaced by a brick classroom.
The school grounds now serve as the Bend area
transportation center for the school district. The remains of Yew Lane School now serve as office, storage, and classroom space for the Transportation Department. Additional Improvements include a shop, storage building, and paved parking for approximately 80 buses
Please post your own photo when you log this waymark. No need to enter the Transportation Center property to obtain a photo.
Additions: A brick central building connecting three huts.
Hut Type: Stran-Steel Quonset Hut
Year of fabrication (if known): About 1950
Is the Quonset Hut currently in use?: No
Physical Address: Not listed
