An original 1840 Zarbula on the old farmhouse of Mathieu Romain, in the Ville district, below the main road and the church. This is one of the classic Zarbula originals featured on many post cards and posters. The Latin motto is “Una hora inventiat te pingentem aeternitatem” (At some time you will find a poignant eternity. The dial features two exotic birds and a radiating IHS symbol. The dial is dated 1840 and signed GZF.

Saint Veran the town with the highest density of sundials in the world, one sundial per nine residents. Among the 36 sundials in Saint Veran, old and new, are six Zarbula sundials of the total of seven he is reported to have painted here. The one on the church has disappeared. These are among his best, excellent examples of his artistic style. The best remain in their original unrestored state. Five were painted in Zarbula's miracle year 1840.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
