The Clutha River valley attracted many a gold miner during the rush of the 1860s. Sadly many miners died in the severe snowstorms of 1863 and this memorial obelisk was erected to their memory.
Address:
It is located in a wayside pull off beside SH 8. However, due to the location and severe sharp corner accessing and egressing this location requires caution when travelling by a motor vehicle.
