In 1988 Margaret Flickenger acquired the old movie house and donated it to a non-profit arts group as the Flickenger Center for Performing Arts.

Subsequently it has undergone two renovations, the first in 1992 included installation of the orchestra pit, new stage, dressing rooms and a new sound system. The second in 2003.

Today the 675-seat theater hosts a variety of performing arts, including concerts, dance, orchestra, youth theater as well as hosting the Miss New Mexico pageant.
