Located in the Astronaut Memorial Garden it is a tribute to the Columbia crew, Commander Rick D. Husband, Pilot William C. McCool, Payload Commander Michael P. Anderson, Payload Specialist Ilan Ramon, Mission Specialist Kalpana Chawla Mission Specialist David M. Brown, Mission Specialist Laurel Clark. A simple obelisk with a bronze plaque with the names of the crew members of the mission, it is a sober reminder that the successes we had in space that are shown in the exhibits at the New Mexico Space Museum and Space Hall of Fame, came with a heavy human cost.
