In 2010, for a few days in July, Hannibal Missouri will celebrate National Tom Sawyer Days. Included in the festival is the Frog Jump Contest.
Author Mark Twain came to Hannibal, MO when he was four years old. Twain's two more famous works ("The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer") are celebrated during the festival.
Besides the frog jumping contest, there's also a fence painting contest. The fence painting comes out of a scene from Tom Sawyer.
