On the corner of an old farmhouse in the hamlet of Le Cros, Eygliere is a sundial attributed to Zarbula. This was one of a pair of sundials but the south west dial has been effaced when the stone on the front wall was covered with stucco. The remaining dial is an original now suffering from age. The gnomon is bent and the some areas are damaged. It is a standard Zarbula sundial characteristic of this point in his career, turning out replicas of a standard design. It is not signed. Perhaps it was painted by someone copying Zarbula's style.

I spoke to the owner, M. Henri Maurel and his son. They permitted me walk in the garden of the farmyard to take pictures. M. Maurel was surprised by the interest in his old sundial. The conversation was limited by poor French.

This area is a good central base for exploring the Zarbula Zone. We have stayed at a gite in Eygliere not far from this sunndial and at a Logis in nearby Guilllestre. Queyras, Briancon, Vallouise, Ubaye etc are all day trips from here.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
