This Zarbula sundial is on the community hall (Maison de Chasse) just up from the church. The sundial shows the classic folk art elements and colours of Zarbula's sundials: arched frame, flowers pots, eagle, curtains, sun, moon, stars, Masonic symbols (square and compass). The star of David on top is unusual but the original motto, now effaced, was "Je suis le fils de David, l' etoile brilliant du matin" (I am the son of David, the brilliant morning star.) Unfortunately the motto and Zarbula's initials were effaced before restoration. This information is from "Cadrans Solaires du Brianconnais" Homet & Rozet who had access to earlier references.

The sundial was restored in 1984 by the Club du Vieux Manoir as one of their first projects. This club organizes summer work camps for teenagers who work on restoration projects, usually old historical buildings. They have restored about 40 old sundials in France. They were the first to do sundial restorations in an organized systematic way, basing the restoration on the historical research. The club du Vieux Manior restorations are now 15 to 25 years old and showing their age.

The hamlet of Prelles is in the commune of St. Martin de Queyrières. This is confusing as Prelles is on the west side of the Durrance River just south of St Blaise and Pierre Feu. The town of St. Martin de Queyrières is across on the east side of the river and highway.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
