This post is located within the "Guthrie Historic District" as listed with the National Register of Historic Places. The post was built in 1957, and not eligeble for consideration. The area, however, was built up almost over night. Many of the buildings were built just after the 1889 land run, many dated in the early 1890s.
The American Legion sponcers 89er Days, a celebration of the land run into Oklahoma. Guthrie was the original capital of the state of Oklahoma.
