The private rail car "Grand Isle" was built around 1890 by the Wagner Palace Car Company, and presented to the Governor of Vermont, Edward C. Smith by the company's president, Dr. William Seward Webb.
The Shelburne Museum purchased the Grand Isle in 1960, and performed a restoration, supervised by Dr. Watson's grandson. It is displayed at the relocated and restored Shelburne Railroad Depot, hitched behind Locomotive 220. The interior of the car is paneled in Mahogany, and the appointments are sumptuous.
Dr. Webb also had a private car closely matching this one, named "Ellsmere".
