The Dunedin Train Station was completed in 1906 and was the most lavish station in the system. It included many features that would not be seen in most train stations, such as stained glass windows. This is one of a pair in the main lobby.

1906 was in a period of great railway travel for New Zealand and Dunedin was the busiest train station in the country. Very little expense was spared on this train station including a set of stained glass windows depicting the importance of rail travel.
