Nightcaps had an elected council when this building was erected. However, today it has joined several municipalities during the massive amalgamation process of 1989 which saw over 700 councils in New Zealand reduced to just 74.
After this process the Nightcaps Town Hall remains owned by a council and is available for rental for private events.
