This undenominational church erected in memory of Rt Hon J. G Coates M.C. for 37 years a member of the House of Representatives and Prime Minister of New Zealand. 1925-1928. Was opened on May 27, 1950 by the Rt Hon. S.G. Holland Ch, Prime Minister of New Zealand."
