This tree was planted on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell. After serving in various deployments in Asia and Africa, Baden-Powell wrote in 1903 the book Aids to Scouting. The book was quickly adopted by groups of boys around England, the Commonwealth, and, eventually, the world. Eventually this become the Scouting Movement and then the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts.
