Sundials are a common feature of clock towers in this part of France. The church bell tower in Les Vigneaux is a good example with two sundials and a mechanical clock. The south facing dial declines a bit east of south. This square sundial has a circle in the center, with a sun at the base of the gnomon and a lunar crescent below. The hours and half hours are marked with full hour lines and short half hour marks. The dials are faded with age and the numerals no longer show. The square dial facing mostly west shows afternoon hours. The dials have no motto, date or signature. They probably date to the 18th century.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
