Ústí nad Labem, the metropolis of the same name bearing region in North Bohemia, is the 9th largest town of the Czech Republic. City lies not far from German borders, approximately 100 km to the north of Prague. Ústí is situated in a picturesque mountain landscape (Bohemian Uplands) at the confluence of the Bílina and the Elbe (Labe in Czech) rivers, and, besides being an active river port, is an important railway junction. Ústí, founded by Czech King Otakar II in the latter part of the 13th century, nowadays is the industrial city with chemical establishments, metallurgy manufacture, machinetool industries, textiles and nutriment industry.
