The column was built in 1681-1685 and consecrated on April 14th 1681. The author of design was Giulio Broggio, the work was performed by Abraham Kitzinger, a sculptor from Decin, and stone masons Andreas Kolderer and Ambrosio Wald from Litomerice.
On the top of the column there is a statue of Virgin Mary Immaculata, down at the base there are five protectors from plague: St. Roch, St. Sebastian, St. Bartholomew, St. Francis Xavier and St. Rosalia.
In 1992, the original statues have been replaced by copies.
