This small earthen dam captures the water coming down the mountain and stores it for irrigation of the farms below growing rice, soy beans, red peppers, and fruit orchards. In the scenic Whayang Valley area of North Chungcheon Province, Korea.

There are probably hundreds of these little dams tucked away in the hills and valleys of mountainouse Korea. They are important resevoirs for irrigation and also water supply. There is a water storage tank next to the dam. It is also habitat for ducks and other wildlife. No swimming or fishing allowed.
This is also a pleasant walk from the villages below with peaceful views of the valley below. The unpaved road continues up through the mountains and villages on the other, northern, side. There is a geocache past the dam, and one below at the bus stop on the main highway.
