This bird sanctuary is the first of its kind in America. This is the Meriden Martin House first built by Otis V. Cutts, from designs furnished by Edward Howe Forbush, state ornithologist of Massachusetts. The original house was built from a large flour or sugar barrel and divided into three stories with space for four rooms on each story.
