The coast of Cyprus has been famous for shipwrecks over the centuries as it is just a matter of probability that a ship wrecks close to Cyprus, considering the fact that this island was right in the middle of major shipping lanes in the Mediterranean from ancient times...

One of well known wrecks of the Cyprus coast is the Three Stars Wreck This is wreck of the modern cargo ship, which caught fire and ran aground in 1972. The wreck is partly submerged in ca 7 m of water close to the coastal line (50 m) in proximity of village Akrotiri (ca 2.5 km NWW). Three Stars Wreck is very interesting exploratory wreck dive for all levels - the vessel, is safe to enter.
