One of the largest Mayan cities named "Chichen Itsa" or "at the mouth of the well." Covers 15 square kilometers, has 5 city squares and at its peak was home to 50,000 people. Also home to one of the most famed pyramids, ballcourts, and observatory.

Protected by the government of Mexico and a designated Unesco site the ruins of Chichen Itza provide us with great insight into the Mayan life during the era between 600 and 1250 A.D.

Chichen Itsa was a great center for the teaching of philosophy, science and art.
