The Millennium Park features a fountain at the entrance to the Irving Historic District on the West-side of down town Irving. This 30 foot fountain is located on 2.1 acres situated between Irving Boulevard and Second Street . The project cost $780,000 to build in six months. Construction on the project began in August 1999 when the contract was awarded to the firm of Randall Blake Inc.
Much more than a simple beatification project, the park serves not only as a gateway to west Irving, but also as a symbol of Irving's entrance into the 21st century. The pool is 100 feet in diameter surrounded by stone columns each 15 feet tall. The central geyser rises to 30 feet. It is a very attractive spot for picture taking and marriage ceremonies have been performed there from time to time. The park and its beautiful fountain are visible from City Hall and the Main Public Library. A live feed from a webcam pointed at Millennium Park broadcasts 24 hours a day from the Millennium Park website for everyone to enjoy.
