Lian Hua Shan Park in the centre of Shenzhen is large and a beautiful urban park that features a kite-flying area, a small fishing lake, and a mountain (shan...) at its center. And at the top of this small mountain you can find huge bronze statue of former Chinese politician and reformer - Deng Xiaoping. Lian Hua Shan Mt. is a really fitting location for this kind of tribute. Deng looks out over all of the main commercial and financial areas of Shenzhen, Futian and Luohu in particular, as well as into the New Territories of Hong Kong. Shenzhen, as is known, is really an invention of Deng; none of it (or us) would be here without him probably...

Deng Xiaoping (22 August 1904 – 19 February 1997) was a prominent Chinese politician, statesman, theorist, and diplomat. As leader of the Communist Party of China, Deng became a reformer who led China towards market economics. While Deng never held office as the head of state or the head of government, he nonetheless served as the Paramount leader of the People's Republic of China from 1978 to the early 1990s.

Situated in Guangdong province, Shenzhen is a city with a population of over 12 million people. Shenzhen is a hub of foreign investment and it has been one of the fastest growing cities in the world since the late 1970s. It also holds the busiest port in China after Shanghai.
