The Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe is the touristic centre (and the highest point of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road) in the middle of Hohe Tauern National Park. The place is named after the visit of Kaiser Franz-Josef made here in 1856. Upon arrival you stand directly before Austria´s highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3 798 m), with a view of the longest glacier in the eastern Alps, the Pasterze.
Here, at the platform next to the visitors centre, you can find ten coin-op monoculars offering details of the Grossglockner stunning panorama.
