Hi-Spa is one of the most modern spa facilities in the resort town of Suanbo, Korea. The hot springs here have been used for over a thousand years, but now dozens of spas pipe and store the waters for their use.

Located in the heart of town, Hi-Spa is a huge, multi-storied facility offering large pools filled with the medicinal waters of Suanbo Hot Springs, valued from ancient times as a tonic for skin and gastric illnessses. The naturally hot water comes in at 53C (127F) and is clear and smooth with an alkalinity of about 8.5 and rich in sodium carbonate and magnesium compounds. There are separate floors for men and women where clothing is not worn. In addition to a good soak in the pools, a variety of other amenities are available from total body massages to other health applications for the skin. This is one of the newest and best facilites in town.

Suanbo is about 15 miles south of the main city of Chungju, of which it is a part, in Korea's only land-locked province. There are good connections via public bus and tour companies. The whole town is a collection of resorts, restaurants, and spas. The specialty dish here is pheasant, but a excellent mushroom dishes are a less expensive alternative. At night the streets a aglow with lighted arches, and a horse-drawn carriage provides a romantic interlude.
