Around 500 years ago, the first mechanical clocks had only one hand, the hour hand. The minute hand hadn't been invented yet so this is how the clock dials back then would have looked. Without the minute hand, you still can get a fairly accurate reading of time by looking at the position of the hour hand. The 3 marks between the hour marks represent 15 minutes each so the time showing on the clock in the photo is 4:10 and as time passes, you will eventually get good at reading the correct time.
Makes a great conversation piece since most people aren't aware that clocks only had one hand at one time so it will be interesting watching them tell time the way they had to do in the old days, back before the greatest invention of all time, the minute hand.
