Several hundred active Romans (plus some dozen Celts and Teutons) entertain about 35'000 visitors every last weekend in August with every aspect of Roman culture. The festival area is amidst the Roman ruins of Augusta Raurica and includes a temple, the big theater, the former city hall and the baths.
There are performances from Roman music to oracles and gladiator fights, even chariot races are performed sometimes, but not every year.
There are dozens of workshops of Roman craft and arts. Plays for kids, about 20 different places to get Roman and modern food and drinks.
