This memorial to the veterans of World War II stands on the grounds of the Newport City Hall in Newport, Rhode Island. The monument is a large piece of carved granite bearing the individual names of the veterans from Newport who lost their lives during World War II. The memorial is located on the lawn of the Newport City Hall, with a small stone path leading up to the memorial. The area immediately surrounding the memorial is of landscaped grass and flowers. The inscription “WORLD WAR II” is inscribed at the top the monument with the word, “THESE HONORED DEAD NEWPORT MOURNS.” This monument was “Erected from funds raised by American Legion Post 7.”
