This granite railway bridge was built in 1879 as part of this narrow gauge railway that stretched nearly 5 miles from Bridestowe station up to the Rattlebrook Peatworks some 350m above. It was used to transport peat. First horsepower was used then steam. Between 1868 and 1955 there were no less than twelve attempts to make the Rattlebrook peatworks viable. Most attempts quickly petered out when the cost of transport became apparent.
The bridge is constructed of Dartmoor granite walls and sleepers across the top of the bridge.
The bridge is now used as a walking route.
